Hello everyone,
I was just hoping to get more information on how to make woodduck eyerings. I get the apoxie to large. I enjoy this site. You gals and guys are great. Thanks for any help you can give me, I would appreciate it.
Respectfully,
BWS

After you add apoxy to the eyes, start trimming away what you don’t want. I use a fine needle to press into the putty, or you can use a scalpel. You can get them as fine as you want.

Another way is to use crochet thread, red for the drake, yellow for the hens, of the approximate diameter, cut the right length, dipped in mod podge, and applied after they soak up a few minutes. The excess dried Mod Podge can be trimmed with a X-acto (pr Piranta) knife after it dries an hour later.

Naturally, this is for commercial mounts where time is money. I am just getting back into taxidermy after almost 30 years. This is my 4th mount since taking it up again.

Nice looking Woodie!  I have been in and out of taxidermy a lot of times.  I always think I am through and then suddenly I get the urge to take it  up again.  It gets in you blood and just doesn’t leave.
