I was just curious if it was a better location (more visibility), or in recent times your business had expanded so much you needed a even larger facility. In any case, it sounds like you guys have a great business model that many wish they had.
Me, my current shop (hobby) is 836 square feet and if I ever did decide to do commercial work, I am way too old to need more than say 1500-2000 square feet.

It seems you can never have enough room.
This shop is purpose built for taxidermy with a larger showroom and shop area. It allows us to buy vs lease which means at some point down the road it is paid off. It is also a great marketing tool as there are no other shops this big in this part of the state ( or in the state period) . It is located in a business park so it is easy to get to and find–it does cost more since it is a commercial project vs a shop in the country, but I think marketing wise it will pay off . People in this area do not want to go to someones house for taxidermy work . They expect more .

I will go along with never having enough room! And leasing space is not in my vocabulary. Total waste of money if you are planning to stay there for the long haul
I could see where a professional place of business may be more appealing to the serious sportsman than a taxidermist who do it out of their house.
Good luck with it all!

Good overhead storage along the walls or a loft on part of it but sounds expensive to head in the winter. You could mount a giraffe in there. If I ever built a shop (which will most likely never happen) I was figuring on about 12 foot ceilings.
When you get it all finished please post pictures or a video of the entire set up. If I ever make it up to Wisconsin again I will be sure to stop in!
Vic
I look at it this way–it is more cost effective to build it bigger now rather than run out of space later on ….and we will be mounting a giraffe in there
As far as heating goes–not as bad as you think. They are insulated very well and with gas heat in our current location the heating bill for 6000 sq feet is only $200 a month on a really bad WI winter month like Jan.
Stop in anytime !!
